Mountain Gear Check – List
  • A Rack sack for your equipments – To be carried by porters

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Sirimon gate – Old Moses

Early morning breakfast at your hotel  then proceed to the office for the final briefing and payments. Later depart the office and drive to Nanyuki town for lunch crossing the equator en route to the Sirimon  park gate  (2660 m).Upon reaching the  gate trek up through a beautiful scenic montane forest, bamboo and giant heather area before reaching the high altitude moorland and our first hurt (Old Moses Camp – 3300 m) for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Old Moses – Shipton Camp

After breakfast you will walk from Old Moses  to Shipton camp via the Ontulili River, pass by the Moorland and crossing  Liki North River then later uphill to Mackinders valley with great view. Dinner and overnight at the Shipton Camp.

Day 3: Shipton Camp – Acclimatization

Here you take a rest at the Shipton Camp, you can choose to walk or hike on the summit climb to Oblong and Hausberg tarns gaining an elevation of 370m before returning to the camp for lunch. T he rest of afternoon is at leisure activity .Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 4: Shipton – Point Lenana

This day climb begins on a frozen scree and continues on a rocky track with some  minor scrambling, with a good moon you barely need to touch. Take a short rest then descent to Mt.KenyaBanda’s along the Gorge valley where you can enjoy the magnificent view of the Temple, Lake Michaelson Mushroom rocks and giant billiard table Mountain. At the Banda’s you can enjoy log fires, hot shower and beds. Dinner and overnight at the Mt. Kenya  Banda’s.

Day 5: Meru Banda’s – Chogoria Town

After breakfast go down on a broad track through bamboo and virgin rain forest to meet vehicle for transfer Chogoria town and further to Nairobi arriving in the evening.Halfwayyou can opt to use a 4 x4 and this will be at an extra cost.
